Happy Holidays!
By now, all the Thanksgiving leftovers are gone, and we are all focused on the Christmas season. Many of you are finished with your Christmas shopping and for some of you, it has just begun. And, if you’re like me, you’re just getting started! But, before we know it, Christmas will have come and gone, and the new year will be upon us. I just want to take this opportunity to remind you (and myself, as well) to take a moment this holiday season amidst all the hustle and bustle of shopping and cooking and entertaining to remember the true spirit of this season. Give yourself the luxury of a few minutes of relaxation and remember what this season is all about. Take a moment to remember all of your blessings. And…maybe even treat yourself to a luxurious bubble bath!

 Transition From The Big Brand I was a faithful user of a Big Brand Name mineral line for about 2 years before finding Mineral Girlz. When I ordered my first set of MG products, I quickly realized that I was going to need to make a few adjustments in my makeup routine. As change is to be expected when learning to use a new product line, I hope these tips I learned along the way will be helpful to you as you make your transition. After a brief period of adjustment, I found I actually prefer MG over the big (expensive!) name brand, not only for price-point (that was a no-brainer), but actually for the way it made my skin feel too.
The colors tend to run somewhat lighter with MG by design, because we are marketing primarily to teens and tweens. However I am 35 and get great coverage with MG. While our pigments are not as intense, they still blends well with skin.
Our eye shadows tend to go on very light in color unless you “foil” them (apply them wet) – there are instructions for foiling in the Guidez section of your website and back office. I actually prefer them lighter, so I don’t foil, but I wanted to point out the other method for those looking for more color.
We do not currently carry a bronzer (skin enhancer), so if you are used to using a product like “warmth” as I was, you may want to play around with our blush and eye shadow shades to find a good substitute. I personally use have pretty light colored skin with a lot of red undertones and use a mixture of our Honey Beige and Fair foundations. I found that our Radiant blush works wonderfully in place of warmth for a very natural and healthy look. A friend who looks beautiful in our Beige foundation also adds Radiant as an overall skin enhancer and looks like a china doll after application. Another consultant wears Honey as her base color and Radiant doesn’t do much for her, but Spirited is gorgeous! So it might take a bit of trial and error to find the right combination, but at only $2 per sample (that’s retail cost – consultant discounts drop it even more) you can afford to do a lot of experimenting for the price of a single Big Name product!
You are possibly used to applying “bisque” as an under eye treatment and blemish cover. If so, you will use the same concept here, but simply use the foundation itself directly as a cover on problem areas. I do this with a detail brush first, kabuki it in, then apply the foundation to my whole face as normal. If you want to play with it a bit, you might use a slightly lighter or darker shade for the cover-up than you use for full face.
With my old brand I applied my whole makeup including bronzer and blush and even eye shadow, then ended with “mineral veil” for a soft “candlelit” look. With MG I usually do cover up, foundation, then directly to Powder Me Again to create that beautiful “airbrushed” effect before I apply blush, shadow, etc. Because the other brand’s colors were more intense, I had to save veil for last to get that soft look I wanted. With our more subtle colors, they are beautiful without the veiling step to tone them down.
One of the biggest benefit we have over many other companies, including that Big brand name that does the fancy infomercials, is that our makeup contains no bismuth oxycloride! I grabbed my container of warmth to play with a bit the other day and immediately felt the difference on my skin after being used to only MG for the last few months. While the other brand of minerals was the gentlest thing I had ever used on my face before finding MG, I was surprised at how irritating the other product felt on my skin in contrast with what I have come to take for granted with MG.

 Dear Stacy,How can I achieve a bold look for my eyes for the holidays?
- Start with a clean eyeshadow brush, one that you are using for foiling only! Dip your brush in water, and squeeze out some of the water from the brush. Too much water will make the shadow look milky and white.
- Dip the brush in the eyeshadow, the brush will pick up the eyeshadow it needs, so do not think you have too much.
- In a sweeping motion, brush the eyeshadow on the bottom portion of the lid. You will need to use both sides of the brush.
You can repeat this process if you need to.
There are several “looks” that you can get by foiling the eye, this is the basic method of foiling.
Tip: If you make a mistake wipe it off now, because once it drys it is harder to get off.

I’ve never used a powder eyeliner. How does this work?
This tip comes from Olivia Vidal – our Training Manager Use our angle or detail brush to apply your eyeliner. Can be worn wet or dry. To use wet for a bolder look, dampen the brush and lightly touch the minerals. Apply close to the lash line on both your upper and lower lashes. You can also use your favorite eyeshadow color for a coordinating look.

 Angelic Gliderz~Well lets just start with saying a 12 year old who was dying to wear make up and perfume was the one to get this ball rolling. My daughter is going to 7th grade and was finally allowed to wear make up and perfume to school for the first time. Nothing showy/gaudy, etc. So I introduced her to MG make up and everyone loves how good she looks! She’s forever getting compliments about how natural it looks and the glow of her skin, etc, etc. BUT my thing is I’m very allergic to most perfumes and she was begging to be able to wear it.
