Making the transition from big brand names to Mineral Girlz

I was a faithful user of the big brand name mineral line for about 2 years before finding MG. When I ordered my first set of MG products I realized that I was going to need to make a few adjustments. Change is to be expected when learning to use a new product line. For anyone else making this transition, I thought you might be interested in the tips I’ve learned along the way. Please feel free to add your tips and experiences in brand change-over as well! After a brief transition, I found I actually prefer MG over the big (expensive!) name brand, not only for price-point (that was a no-brainer), but actually for the way it made my skin feel too. The colors tend to run lighter with MG than the others by design, because we are marketing primarily to teens and tweens. However I am 34 and get great coverage with MG. While our pigments are not as intense, they still blends well with skin.

Our eye shadows tend to go on very light in color unless you “foil” them (apply them wet) – there are instructions for foiling in the Guidez section of your website and back office. I actually prefer them lighter, so I don’t foil, but I wanted to point out the other method for those looking for more color.

We do not currently carry a bronzer (skin enhancer), so if you are used to using “warmth” like I was, you may want to play around with our blush and eye shadow shades to find a good substitute. For me, I found that our “radiant” blush works wonderfully in place of warmth for a very natural and healthy look.

You are possibly used to applying “bisque” as an under eye treatment and blemish cover. If so, you will use the same concept here, but simply use the foundation itself directly as a cover on problem areas. I do this with a detail brush first, kabuki it in, then apply the foundation to my whole face as normal. If you want to play with it a bit, you might use a slightly lighter or darker shade for the cover-up than you use for full face.

With other brands, I applied my whole makeup including bronzer and blush and even eye shadow, then ended with “mineral veil” for a soft “candlelit” look. With MG I usually do cover up, foundation, then directly to Powder Me Again to “set” the foundation before I apply blush, shadow, etc. Because the colors were more intense, I had to save veil for last to get that soft look I wanted. With our more subtle colors, they are beautiful without saving the veiling step to tone them down.

Oh, and the big benefit we have over the other name brands is that our makeup contains no bismuth oxycloride! I grabbed my container of warmth to play with a bit the other day and immediately felt the difference on my skin after being used to only MG for the last few months. While the other brand was the gentlest thing I had ever used on my face before finding MG, I was surprised at how irritating the other product felt on my skin in contrast with what I have become spoiled by with MG.

Hope this helps get you off to a great start as soon as your makeup arrives!

Direct sellers: Your Summer Preparation Checklist by Jane Deuber

The lazy days of summer don’t have to slow you and your business down when you take these steps to prepare in advance. This time-tested Summer Preparation Checklist will ensure your sales and sponsoring keep rising along with those summer temperatures.

1. Plan now for your kid’s summer schedule so you don’t find yourself in the middle of June without any options. Schools and city recreation departments offer a wide variety of programs your kids will love. Start planning your kids’ summer schedule now as some of these programs fill up fast and can vary considerably in price.

2. Have a Summer Fun Meeting with your family. Create three lists of things to do during the summer. One list of projects to do with mom, dad or the whole family; another list of fun things to do when a friend is over; and one last list of things your child can do on her own. Plan to have all you need on hand by picking up the right summer supplies the next time you go to the store.

3. Get your kids organized. Your office may not be an example of organizational bliss but if you want to avoid having your kids come to you to find everything from crayons to soccer cleats, you will need to get their closets and toy storage areas in order. By involving them in the organizational process they will be able to find what they need without coming to ask you.

4. Have a Plan B list of reliable friends and older neighborhood kids you can call on to watch your children when Plan A falls through. You can arrange with the parents of your child’s friends to do a regular “kid swap” or select from a list of high school students you know in your area.

5. Keep your sanity throughout the summer by attending periodic trainings and workshops. Just recently, DSWA members who attended the Tri-Cities,
Washington training hosted by DSWA and Cynthia Kersey reported they returned home with fresh enthusiasm, new business-building ideas and lots of leads for future shows and sales appointments. Networking pays!

6. Be ready to do business while you are on the move by always having your business with you. Create a Business-in-a-box that you can grab as you run out the door that contains all the things you need to make good use of those “stolen minutes”.

Here are just a few of the ways our members shared how they utilize their waiting time:

* I read up on company literature so I’m always informed of the latest news.

* I carry a calculator so I can process paperwork or close a show.

* I make return calls to team members who call me with questions.

* I use my cell to make “feel good calls” to potential team members.

* I follow-up on customer inquiries regarding product details or availability.

* I turn on a classical music station and write heart-felt thank you notes to customers and hostesses.

* I check in with future hostesses to see if they have any questions and give them encouragement.

* I take time for me. There will always be a phone call to make, or a note to write. By taking a quiet 15 minute escape, I feel rejuvenated and ready for the rest of my day!

PLANNING FOR YOUR BEAUTY CARE BUSINESS

by Belver Ladson

Selling beauty products can be a rewarding and profitable business if you do everything you can to make your business work in a good way.  Having a business that is run smoothly and is run in a way that works with YOUR personality and style is something you should strive for each day.   Planning is the key to  making your beauty care business fit your personal way of selling and reaching customers.

PLANNING YOUR BUSINESS

Planning is a part of your beauty care  business you should never overlook.  It might seem a bit boring and you may be in a rush to start selling products, but be sure to slow down enough to take a good look at your business plans. .   Whether you’re starting or moving on in your business,  planning is a major task you should ALWAYS try to do.   Business planning helps you set goals that can motivate you to achieve more.   Planning also helps you set your business strategy and assists in deciding where you want to go with your beauty products and services.  When selling beauty care products, you might want to make your goals match up with the levels of selling that bring in the income and level of being an active seller that you’d like to achieve.

PLANNING HELPS YOU SET GOALS             Setting goals for your business should be a mandatory part of your daily business life.   A business with goals is a business that will always motivate you to do better because you’re working toward a planned event (your success).  Having goals will help your business grow at a steady pace too.   Don’t leave the success of your business to unknown factors that may or may not happen.               Plan the growth of your business.  What will you do to bring in new customers?  Do you need more marketing materials like business cards or post cards?  Do you need more beauty supply samples for people to try?  Think about this and try to come up with some estimates so you will always be prepared to sell and get the sale.

PLANNING HELPS YOU SET A STRATEGY             The strategic part of planning can be fun.  Positioning yourself in the beauty care world is sometimes like a chess game.   You move your business to the proper position and then try to grab customers from the competition.   Part of choosing a strategy should include answering these four questions about your beauty products business:: a) What do you want your beauty care business to say about yourself?
Will you be polished and well dressed?  or more casual and loose?  Both can fit, you just need to find the selling stance that’s right for you.
 a)     What do you want your business to do for your customers? (give them a much needed product, help them to look better, etc..…)b)     What do you want your business to do for you and your family? (bring in more income, make life easier, etc…)c)      How will I position my business/products to make this all happen? (i.e. open a website , make  business cards, advertise online, advertise in newspapers, etc…)

KEEP YOUR PLAN AS SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE        Making a business plan for your beauty care business can be as simple as jotting down your ideas on a scrap piece of paper or you can take longer to make your plan more detailed.  It’s up to you.   Make your plan fit your business goals, needs and desires.  You can include financial plans (how much you want to spend, how much do you want to earn, etc…), marketing plans (how will you advertise your products/services), shipping plans (how to deliver your merchandise) and any other plans you need to make.  Just be sure to make a plan….it CAN make a difference. Belver Ladson is a successful entrepreneur, motivational coach, and graphic artist.  Belver strives to help people see the goodness in life and the fact that hope is always present.  Belver can be reached at: http://www.bizwahm.com

I am a SAHM of two beautiful children, and also own www.DesignerWrappers.com, a custom gift and favor business. I joined mineral girlz and became the team leader of BeautyGirlz.com because I wanted to be able to continue to stay at home with my kids. The cost of living in Northern California makes it almost impossible for families to survive on one income, yet I didn’t want to have my kids raised by nannies or daycares. I want to be able to pick up my kids from school everyday, take them to their extra-curricular activities, help them with their homework, cook healthy meals…you know…I want it all! Mineral Girlz lets me do exactly that! I make my own hours, work as much or as little as I want to…and it’s working!

If you join my team, I’ll help you do the same…whether you want to earn a little spending cash, or be able to work from home. It’s FREE to join! About the Company

What is Mineral Girlz?

Mineral Girlz was founded by Evie McLarty, founder of Stuff A Friend and mom of four daughters. As her girls got older Evie discovered that there was a great need for attention to tweens and teen girls. “Most of these girls are at a delicate age and I wanted a way to teach them something they will use everyday, how to apply makeup and care for their skin. Most girls start using makeup that contains ingredients that are harmful to their skin so they breakout and give up on skin care and makeup. Mineral Girlz makeup is formulated to help clear the skin as they wear it, it also contains sunscreen, which protects them from damaging UV rays. We give girls the knowledge of skin care and makeup application, something they will have forever.”
